Loch Cill Chriosd and Black Cuillin
As you will have seen in previous journal entries I have been very taken by the work of Roman Loranc and wanted to see whether I could make some creative images of bulrushes as a micro project https://www.romanloranc.com/tules/. My intention in this work is to give a sense of the stillness, movement, shapes, textures, light, shade, mood and character of Loch Cill Chriosd. I intend to revisit the water at different times of day, in different weather conditions and different seasons.
My tutor Sophie suggested we provide our images as work in progress rather than providing her with what we might think is a “finished” image. She suggests this will help her to help us in developing and improving our work. So here are my first efforts warts and all!

Do let me know what you think. . .

#5 particularly. Lots of ambiguity.
Agree with Rod on #5 and also like #11 very much with the sense of movement. What does #11 look like with more contrast?

Hi Alison, I was in Wells last week and saw this sculpture under construction. I guess any art involving reeds necessarily freezes the movement and yet must convey movement. Contrasts to the static mountains in the background (and yet the light up there is always changing…)
I like 7 and the contrast in colours vs other photos (reeds light, water dark and the ripples).

Many thanks for your comment and the link to the sculpture – very interesting and beautiful. I think there are many possibilities in terms of technique. This was my first shoot and in large part I chose to freeze the movement although I think there are endless possibilities for slower shutter speeds.
