I wrote about a month ago about an ambitious target to redraft Chapter 2 of my thesis https://www.wildreflections.photography/uncategorised/finding-the-narrative-for-my-phd-story by 15 November.  Even though I had a clear plan to achieve this, I was over-ambitious and did not consider significant periods of practice, attending a Photography Festival and giving myself time to reflect on feedback and then write.  I started with a blank sheet of paper and began writing, wishing to give this new version a reflective and authentic voice and to an extent, it worked.  However, I have a variable piece of writing, the quality ranging from very good to pedestrian and needing significant work.  Not least, to reduce the word count by at least 5,000 words.

Today I decided to sit down and write out the chapter's narrative anew, along with a storyboard of the sections I need to include.

This is all in my head, and indeed down on paper in the previous draft, but it is just not in the right order!  In fact, on reflection, the version I have is not far from where it needs to be.   I think it will probably take me a couple of weeks of hard slog to get it in good shape.  I then need to carefully work through all the feedback and revise accordingly.  After working hard today, I now feel I have an achievable plan to submit Draft 2 of Chapter 2 to my supervisors by 9 December.  My hope then would be that I would be able to complete the second draft of Chapter 3 by Christmas, leaving the Introduction and Conclusion to be rewritten accordingly in the New Year.

I love a plan, but I think I am back on track and can see the path from A to B.
