I met with both my supervisors today and the agenda with my update and notes are below:

Schedule for the completion of my PhD by September 2023

As discussed last time I have produced a draft plan for each aspect of my submission.  This includes in particular the timing of submissions of three drafts in total starting with August 2022, then January 2023 and May 2023.  This will mean that I will have a full first draft by the start of my final year.

We discussed the plan in detail agreeing points of focus for each draft.  In particular, my supervisors warned of the need to build in a contingency in terms of the printing of the Artist’s book.

Initial discussion about possible External Examiner – As far as I am concerned, this is ongoing, but I do have a list of names, and you will see from the plan I suggest we resolve this in order that you can make contact with potential examiners by the summer 2022.  We discussed this further and agreed to follow up additional suggestions for our next meeting on 13 May.

Section on Contemporary Practice – I am now working on the Contemporary Practice section.  I would welcome a chance to discuss my approach with you and to understand better what it is you (or the examiners) are looking for.  This discussion will be ongoing as the structure of the thesis becomes clearer.  I outlined my current plan in terms of the Contemporary Practice section and also my ideas for the structure of the thesis as a whole.  I now feel able to renew my efforts to return to writing. . .

Next meeting in Dundee!
