Quite by chance, I found myself walking along the shore of Loch Cill Chriosd on Christmas Eve.

I had spoken to a fellow walker who told me that Glossy Ibis had been spotted on Skye in recent days.  He speculated that Loch Cill Chriosd where I do a lot of my photographic work would be an ideal environment for these waterbirds.  As the weather was good, I decided to take a drive down to the water to see if I could spot them, although my research suggested that it would be a rare sighting indeed for the Glossy Ibis to have ventured this far north.

It was a bright day but with a cold wind.  It was early enough that the reeds were well lit by the winter sun.  The reed heads were being buffeted by the wind and the water was choppy.  It seemed a perfect opportunity to take some short videos of the movement and patterns on the loch . . .

I am pleased with these impromptu videos but I need to return and ensure I record sound as well as images.
